The Cross looking Northwest with what was known as Keating's house in the right foreground, so known as Ned Keating from Kilcommon married Kitty Cooke only daughter of George Cooke & Margaret O'Grady. The Keating family lived here for many years before immigrating to Australia with their three sons Christy. Seamus and Eamonn, The first known occupant of this house was Mary Ross 1840. The ruin between Keating's and the newly built houses was the O'Brien residence, marrying into the Nolan family who were tenants of this house. This is a very old street, These houses were all thatched one time and were owned by the occupiers of Ardfinnan Castle and later by Ardfinnan Woollen Mills.
