View across bridge over River Suir, said to have been built in
the 1180s by Prince John of the Normans immediately after the construction of
the Castle. On the right is the site of the old mill office and the spinning and
carding department of the mill. Was once a three-story building but was destroyed
by fire in the closing years of the 19 Century and rebuilt as a two-storey building.
On the left are the newer ware rooms of the mill now owned by Hally Bros. Building
at the far end of the bridge is Brett's store built on the site of the old Brennan's
shop. which was used for a time during the "Troubles" as the Headquarters of the
local IRA Coy. St Anne's Tce is in behind the trees on the horizon.
