My name is Richard Sly, I was Kathleen Shone's (Lonergan's) partner,
and came to Ardfinnan for her funereal on Friday 25th.
I would like to take the opportunity to thank everyone for the village
who turned out for her, and for those who kindly took time to wish me
well, and express their sorrow.
Also to Kathy's family, who, as ever made me feel so welcome, under
such sad circumstances.
I know Kathleen would have been amazed at the number of you that took
time to pay your respects. I was honoured to be there to witness it for
her.
Also I would like to pay my respects to the priest who conducted her
service. As a non catholic I was unsure exactly what to expect, but I
was moved and found his words comforting.
I hope to return one day, to visit Kathleen's grave and pay my
respects, and I look forward to returning to your community and the
friendship you showed me.
My very warmest thanks to you all, and best wishes.
Richard Sly
