Ardfinnan GAA:
The club would like to congratulate Jonathon Ryan, Michael 0' Sullivan, Michael Goonan, Daniel 0' Reagan and Philip Murphy on winning the Schools Munster Title with the High School recently.
With the year coming to a close it is a good time to reflect on our performances in each grade throughout the year.
Senior: Our senior team started the defence of the County title with an impressive victory over Killenaule back in May. This was followed by an 11 point to 7 victory over old rivals Commercials in Cahir in the second round. The display against Commercials was excellent and ensured we would be involved in the latter stages of the competition come September. In the summer month's concentration turned to the South championship and first up was Killenaule. Two mighty battles ensued with Killenaule emerging victorious after 140 minutes of football. In the Losers group Ardfinnan played Grangemockler and just never got going on the night and were defeated by 6 points. In the county quarterfinal we played Mid champions J.K Brackens. This game was played in a constant downpour and Ardfinnan came through on a score line of 10 points to 1-3. The semi final saw Ardfinnan face a very strong Aherlow side. We were defeated by 6 points in the end. Ardfinnan can take consolation from the displays of Aherlow thereafter, as they were crowned county champions and made a bold bid for Munster honours only to be defeated by The Nire in a replay at the semi final stage.
Junior: The juniors opened their account with an excellent 18 points to I2 victory over Commercials on the 10th of June in Newcastle. Defeats to Ballylooby and Newcastle followed in August' We then faced reigning champions St. Pats in the by pass in October and things did not look good while trailing by 6 points at half time. An excellent second half performance from Ardfinnan ensured we ran out 6 point winners in the end and advanced to the knockout stages. In the quarter final Ardfinnan faced Fethard in Cahir and turned in another good display to win in the end by a point, although we won more comfortably than the score line suggested.
Ardfinnan were defeated in the semi final less than 48 hours later by eventual county champions Moyle Rovers. Something must be done about the set up of the junior championship. To play 3 games in 4 months and then be forced to play 2 games in 2 days is quite simply a joke. It's not fair on the players who train hard all year and are crying out for games on summer nights when conditions are perfect for football.
Under 21: The Under 21 campaign began in February with a defeat to Carrick Swan in the By Pass. Ardfinnan regrouped and defeated Cahir, Killenaule and St. Pats to qualify for the semi final and a clash with Moyle Rovers.
Ardfinnan went down narrowly to Rovers by 2 points in the Semi Final played in Goatenbridge on the 19th of March, two days after the St. Pats game. Again as with the junior we felt the gap between the quarter and semi final was totally inadequate.
Minor: Our minors started with a defeat to Commercials in Cahir on Easter Saturday. Then 2 impressive victories followed against Cahir/Ballylooby and Carrick Swan. We then were defeated narrowly by eventual champions Killenaule in an excellent match played in Clonmel. Unfortunately we were to play no more games as we received 2 walkovers from teams that pulled out and this meant we could not qualify for the semi finals.
Under 16: Our under 16s started the championship poorly but then improved greatly throughout to reach the South Final. Unfortunately we didn't get the breaks in the final and were defeated by 4 points by Clonmel Og. Under 14: Our under 14s played some great games in the championship this year and were very unlucky to be defeated in a play off by eventual winners Clonmel Og. The club would like to thank the all the Managers, Selectors and players of the above teams for the huge commitment they gave all year!!

Juvenile Report by Ger Meagher:
As is always the way the Under 12s were first into action in the juvenile section. Training started later than we would have liked due to a number of factors, including the inclement weather and players committed to other codes during the winter season.
It is hard to compete with other codes during this time of year as we have no indoor facilities. This coupled with low numbers in this grade is a matter of concern for the club. This coming year, 2007, we will have six players aged 12 and the remainder will be a year younger or under 10. We played challenges against Cahir and Moyle Rovers in March and put in 2 battling performances before being narrowly defeated. However we failed to qualify from the group stages in the championship and we were disappointed with that outcome.
Our Under 10s defeated Commercials in a challenge and had a few other games that resulted in some very encouraging displays. We hosted a 3 team tournament in August with Tramore and Stradbally the visitors. We finished runners up defeating Stradbally. We also competed in the Under 10 championship, which unfortunately is run off in one day.
Our community games 91/2 team were very good in defeating Clerihan but went out eventually to a very strong Powerstown outfit. Our under 8s are our future with great numbers and tremendous effort in particular from Michael Slattery. The juveniles from 6 years to 12 years cannot continue to be looked after by 3 or 4 people.
Each team should have at least 3 people over them, which would hopefully lead to 9 or 10 people being directly involved. It is great to see so many of our recent juveniles making the step up to senior in the last 2 years and more on the way, It would be great if the senior players could help out with juvenile in any way possible.
I cannot sum up the past year without referring to my friend and fellow selector, trainer and general organiser for the past 25 years, Mikey 0' Mahoney. We soldiered together all that time and enjoyed our many trips to Waterford, Cork and many local clubs. The club gave him a send off he truly deserved and 1, on behalf of the juveniles, Seamus and Martin, wish to thank club chairman Thomas 0' Mahoney for giving us pride of place at the head of the guard of honour. May our great friend Mikey rest in peace. The club would like to thank Ger, Seamus, Martin and Michael for the huge effort they put into the juvenile club this year.

A.G.M:
The A.G.M of Ardfinnan G.A.A club will take place on the 7th of January. All are welcome. The club would like to wish all its players and supporters both home and abroad a very Happy Christmas and a prosperous New Year.
